A. Check-in time: 1 PM IST (Check-in are allowed only till 11 PM) and Check-out time: 11 AM IST

B. It is mandatory for every guest to present a GoI approved valid Photo ID at the time of check-in. Valid IDs are Passport, Aadhar, Driving license, and Voter card. Every foreign guest at all our hostels must carry and present their passport and a valid visa (in originals) during the time of check-in. Every Pakistani guest at all our hostels must carry and present during the time of check-in: an additional residence permit letter from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad along with the passport and valid visa in originals.

C. In case the guest arrives earlier than the check-in time, they can hang out in the common area till the bed/room is ready. However, if the guests are arriving as early as 6 AM, it is highly recommended to book a bed for the previous night to ensure a good night’s sleep.

D. Check-out time at all our hostels is up to 11 AM. Late check-out can be available on prior request and is subject to availability. The guests, however, can wait at the common areas until the time of departure.

E. The Hosteller, a chain of backpacker hostels, is well suited for young backpacking travellers. As a brand, we do not recommend families and all those below 18 years of age to stay with us.

F. 100% payment is a MUST at the time of check-in.

G. Local IDs are allowed.

H. Right to ADMISSION is reserved.


A. As per the company policy, no guest is allowed to reside in the hostel for more than a period of 7 days. Further stay requests can be accommodated only during special emergency circumstances and rights to admission remain with the management.

B. All guests must be at least 18 years of age to be able to check in at any of our hostels.

C. Payment modes accepted at our hostels: Cash, Credit card and UPIs

D. We cannot guarantee accommodation in the same dorm room in the case of 3 or 4 people travelling together. That will strictly be subject to availability.

E. Specific policies may apply to different hostels under the brand at specific times of the year and the same shall be communicated at the time of check-in.

F. We are a PET-FRIENDLY hostel chain. All our locations with the exception of Mcleodganj Max allow pets in the private rooms. Please Note: Pets are not allowed in the dorms and guests are fully responsible for the upkeep of their pets and will be liable for any damages caused.

G. Should any action by a guest be deemed inappropriate by the hostel or if any inappropriate behaviour is brought to the attention of the hostel, the hostel reserves the right to take action against the guest. Rest assured, proper investigations will be undertaken by the administration to ensure that the affair is dealt with in complete fairness.

H. Right to admission is reserved.


A. Any and all cancellation requests are attended to by the central reservations team. To cancel your booking, kindly write to them at Please make sure to mention your reservation ID and all relevant details in the same e-mail.

B. All cancellations, if informed 7 days prior to the check-in date, shall be eligible for a 100% refund. In case cancellations happen within 7 days of the check-in date, there wouldn’t be ANY refund and will attract 100% cancellation charges. If the guest doesn’t show up they will be charged the total price of the reservation.

C. The reservations made at the hostel are non-transferable. Therefore, it is mandatory for the guest in whose name the booking has been made to show up.

D. For all communications related to cancellations, write to us on with details such as Booking ID and Guest name.


A. All workation cancellations if informed 10 days prior to the check-in date, shall be eligible for a refund to the source account of booking. Cancellations informed 7 days prior to the check-in date will be eligible for a refund in the amount of The Hosteller Credits. These credits can be used at any of The Hosteller properties and up to 12 months from the cancellation date.

A. All trip cancellations, if informed 15 days prior to the departure or check-in date, shall be eligible for a 100% refund in the form of TH credits with lifetime validity. In case any trip cancellations happen within 15 days of departure or check-in date, there wouldn’t be ANY refund and will attract 100% cancellation charges.

A. We are a pet-friendly hostel.

B. With the exception of Mcleodganj Max, pets are allowed at all hostels provided the guest books a private room. Pets are not allowed inside the dorm rooms.

C. Care and upkeep of the pet is solely the guest’s responsibility and any damage to property or other’s belongings is to be borne by the guest themselves.


A. Visitor (Non-resident guests) timings: 10 AM to 10 PM only. In case the guest wants to meet the visitor, they can do so in our waiting area or common spaces. Note, visitors are not allowed inside any of the rooms, at any time.

B. Hostel management shall not be held responsible for any loss of luggage or personal belongings. Guests shall make sure not to leave their belongings unattended at all times.

C. If the guest’s behavior is deemed unfit at the property, at any time during the stay, the hostel management reserves all rights, upon subjective evaluation, to ask the guest to vacate the premises and no refund shall be processed in these circumstances.

D. Breakfast timings (at all our hostels): 8 AM to 10 AM. However, at times, breakfast timings may change and the same shall be informed prior to all guests staying in our hostels. Also, note, breakfast isn’t included in the room tariffs and is charged on an extra basis at the hostels themselves.

E. Drugs/Substance abuse is STRICTLY prohibited at all our hostels. In case anyone is found possessing or consuming drugs during their stay, strict action shall be taken against him/her and the person would be asked to vacate the hostel immediately and would be blacklisted from staying at our hostels forever.

F. All our hostels have dedicated smoking areas.

G. All our hostels are CCTV enabled for safety, security, and checks/audits reasons.

H. Certain policies shall be location, season, or time-specific and shall be communicated exclusively at the time of booking or check-in.

I. The Hosteller may reach out to the guest for offers, discounts, feedback, and other promotional matters via emails or calls.

J. Guests shall be liable for any damage except normal wear and tear to hostel assets. Guest shall keep the hostel room in a good condition, maintaining hygiene and cleanliness.

K. Extra mattresses shall be provided, at an extra cost, at all our hostels.

L. The guest shall be deemed unfit to continue any further at any of our hostels in case of drug abuse, non-adherence of guest and booking policies, misbehavior (Physical/mental/verbal or in any kind), theft, personal hygiene, vandalism, trespassing, non-payment/delay in payment of dues, other guest inconveniences or any such unwarranted actions. In all such cases, the guest shall be asked to vacate the premises immediately without any refunds.

M. Power backup is available only at select locations and not at all The Hosteller properties.


A. We shall accommodate people as per guidelines issued by the state or the central government and all guests are advised to adhere to it strictly.

B. We advise our guests to do a pre-arrival check-in to ensure contactless service. We shall be sending pre-arrival check-in emails to all guests.

C. Thermal checks, travel history, Aarogya Setu app download, luggage & footwear sanitization shall be done on arrival.

D. Our staff is trained specially for post Covid-19 hygiene & cleanliness measures to ensure your safety.

E. Cleanliness policy: 3 times per day (Clean, sanitize, repeat)

F. Timings of common spaces, kitchen, common area, etc. may be restricted to ensure 100% cleaning & social distancing measures as per management’s discretion.

G. Our cafes are also sanitized 3 times a day to ensure servicing our guests with freshly prepared food.

H. Emergency measures: All our hostels shall have the provision of 1 dedicated emergency isolation room, oxygen supply & doctor on call.

I. Covid-19 sanitization kits are available at all hostels at an additional cost. It comprises of N95 mask, use & throw items like a mask (blue color), sanitizer sachet, head cap, foot cap, and gloves.

J. All guests are advised to be 100% compliant with GoI or state guidelines & documentation.
K. Rights to admission are reserved with the hostel management without any refund liability.
L. Guests are advised to strictly follow management guidelines & ensure social distancing at all costs.
