Mumbai is the city that never sleeps. While some areas of Mumbai buzz at night with clubs and nightlife, others fall into a mysterious, eerie silence—a silence that screams louder than the city’s chaos in its own eerie way. These are the stories of such haunted places in Mumbai: a society with 20 unnatural deaths, a famous tourist spot that turns into a nightmare at midnight, a popular film set, and many more.
Sounds interesting? To know the other side of the coin, read on and discover the 8 most haunted places in Mumbai.
1. D’Souza chawl
Located right in the heart of Mahim, the residents of D’Souza Chawl were facing severe water problems. So, they decided to dig a well right in the middle of the chawl. Everything was going fine, but there was a catch—the well had no boundaries. One day, a lady from the chawl went near the well to fetch water and tragically fell in. She cried for help, but her pleas went unanswered. To this day, people claim to hear her screams, and some have even spotted the figure of a lady who disappears moments later.
2. Sanjay Gandhi National Park
You must have read about this place as a tourist attraction. But did you also know ki yaha bhoot bhi hai? Visitors are not allowed to stay here at night or linger too long, as locals claim that a woman in white will chase them, straight out of a horror story. Lots of people have noticed unusual sounds and activities, especially around the Kanheri caves.

3. Vrindavan society (Thane)
People are still scared to go to apartment No. 66B in Vrindavan Society. Everything was fine here until one day an elderly man committed suicide in Building No. 66B. Since then, many people have felt his presence and seen a spirit around. It’s said that the spirit has even slapped a guard caught sleeping on duty. Hence, the ghost is also called "The Slapping Ghost."
4. Mukesh mills
Agneepath (1990), Sadak, and the latest song from the movie Luka Chuppi—‘Poster lagwa do’—were shot at this haunted place: Mukesh Mills. Built in the late 19th century, it was once a working textile mill. In 1982, a fire destroyed the mill completely. Many people lost their lives in the incident, and since then, the place has been haunted by the spirits of the mill workers. Strange and eerie events occur here, with people claiming to hear unexpected sounds, whispers, and even see shadowy figures.

5. Bombay High Court
This story is more bizarre than spooky. People say that there is a friendly spirit of a lawyer in one particular courtroom. For over 30 years, this ghost is said to have targeted individuals who lie in court. People who mislead the court or provide false information are met with mysterious and unexpected incidents.

6. Grand Paradi Towers
A luxurious tower with over 20 suicides and unnatural deaths. Since 1998, the tower has witnessed unusual events. It all started with an elderly couple committing suicide by jumping from the building. The story became even more interesting when, a few years later, other family members followed the same fate, jumping from the same spot. Since then, over 20 mysterious deaths have been reported from this place. Would you like to buy a flat here?
7. Marve and Madh Island road
Do you know the Bollywood movie Dulhan bani daayan? This is the story of the same. Marve and Madh Island Road is known for its scenic routes and greenery, but as the day turns to night, the story changes. Years ago, a horrific murder took place on this road—of a bride whose body was dumped in the trees. Bolte hai wo aaj bhi yaha ghumti hai! Her spirit is believed to be the reason for many road accidents in the area.
8. Tower of Silence
Do you know what’s scarier than a graveyard? The Tower of Silence. The name itself is spooky. This place was built around 300 years ago. It’s a burial site for the Parsi community/Zoroastrians, where the bodies of the deceased are left on the terrace for scavengers to feed on. Since then, people passing by this area have felt an unusual presence and some kind of negative energy.
