Namaskar Punekars,

Feeling tired of the city's hustle and bustle after a long week of work? We get it! Sometimes, we all need a short break from the city to recharge. Well, Pune is close to so many beautiful and fun places. And we know it is hard to choose. That's why we've listed some fantastic places to spend your weekend.

Here we go!

1) Lonavla/ Khandala

We assume you already know about this place because weekend aane pe har koi Lonavla jane ki baat karta hai. These twin hill stations are just an hour away from Pune. Head here to eat, sleep, and relax. And did you know where to find the most affordable and charming place to stay? The Hosteller Lonavla.

2) Bhuleshwar temple

Very few people know about a temple near Pune built in 1230 AD by the Yadava king. Locals say this is where Parvati danced for Shiva before going to Kailash to get married. This beautiful temple has carvings of Deities on black stone. Unfortunately, some sculptures have been damaged over time, but the place is still worth visiting.

3) Baneshwar temple, Pune

Another ancient temple near Pune, Baneshwar Temple, was built in 1200 AD and holds significant historical value. Folklore says it used to be a hiding place for the Pandavas. The temple is carved into a cave, which is best for a quick one-day trip.

4) Mahabaleshwar

Eat all the strawberries and mulberries you can find. Head to Mapro Garden, try every drink they offer and take home your favorites. Eat their wood-fired pizza while you're there. Spend time by the lake, check the various viewpoints, and click many pictures. Weekend toh set hai, yaar!

Pro tip: Book your stay in advance, or it might get full too quickly.

5) Panshet

Another place just an hour away from Pune, Panshet is a little gem in the mountains and is surrounded by greenery. It is an ideal destination for anyone looking to pump up their adrenaline. You can enjoy kayaking, boating, and swimming here. If you're visiting during the monsoon season, don't miss the Varasgaon Waterfall near The Hosteller Panshet.

6) Alibaug

If you’re done with mountains, head to the beaches. Alibaug is the closest destination you can reach, perfect for unwinding and relaxing. If you want adventure, you can trek up to the Kankeshwar Temple. It’s a 650-step climb to the top, where you can catch a stunning sunset.

7) Mumbai

You might feel like you’re jumping from one chaos to another, but let us tell you—Pune and Mumbai are just 3 hours apart, yet each city offers a distinct vibe. If you haven’t been to Mumbai, you should visit just to sit by Marine Drive, listen to Iktara from Wake Up Sid, and soak in the city’s energy. 8) Kamshet

Weekend pe kuch toofani karna hai? Then Kamshet is the place! Kamshet is mainly popular for paragliding. Whether you're a first-timer or a trained paraglider, it's the best place. There are many schools and instructors to guide you throughout.

Pro tip: October to February is the best time for paragliding, as the conditions are ideal.

9) Bhandardara

Bhandardara is a bit away from the other places, so you’ll need to leave early in the morning. But once you’re there, this place will make you forget all the tiredness. There’s a dam in Bhandardara, where you could easily spend the whole day just walking around it. The best time to visit is during the monsoons (itne waterfalls milenge ki dekhte dekhte thak jaoge!). Or, visit during the Fireflies Festival.

Pro tip: Book your stay at The Hosteller Bhandardara and meet fellow travelers like you. Share stories, make memories, and have a lovely weekend!

10) Kaas Plateau

This Valley is famous for the 850+ varieties of wildflowers that bloom across the hills. It feels like walking on a giant carpet of flowers! The blooming period is between August and October, so plan accordingly. We suggest you plan your stay near Satara to explore other places, like Sajjangadh or Ajinkyatara Fort.

11) Torna Fort

Torna Fort was the first fort that Shivaji Maharaj conquered from the Adil Sultanate at 16. This is the place where the foundation of the Maratha Empire was built. You need to trek to the top, making it a perfect adventure for a weekend. We recommend visiting post-monsoon, as the trail will be covered with vibrant wildflowers. And let us tell you, the view from the top is amazing!

12) Lavasa

Weekend pe Europe-inspired jagah pe ghoomke aana hai toh Lavasa jao! This city is modeled after Italy's Portofino. You can sit at any cafe or restaurant by the river, enjoy the ambiance, and indulge in delicious continental food. Sometimes, a flea market or live music is happening, so you can spend your weekend exploring something new.

13) Amboli Ghat

Amboli gained popularity as a hill station during the British era. Some must-visit spots include Amboli waterfall, Shirgaonkar point, Madhavgarh fort, and Sunset point. We recommend visiting during the monsoon season when nature is at its peak beauty. Book a cozy homestay or resort, and just relax ekdam tension-free.
